The Press Information Bureau (PIB) is the nodal agency of the Central Government to disseminate information to the print and electronic media on government policies, programme initiatives and achievements. The Bureau has a total of 43 Regional and Branch Offices and Information Centres. Information is disseminated through Press Releases, press Notes, Feature Articles, Backgrounders, press Briefings, Photographs, press Conferences, interviews, database available on Bureau’s website, Press tours, etc. The information material released in English, Hindi, Urdu and 13 other regional languages reaches about 8400 newspapers and media organization.

With its headquarters in Delhi, the Bureau has officers who are exclusively attached to different Ministries and Departments to assist them in dissemination of information and giving the feedback on the people’s reaction, as reflected in the Media towards Government policies and programmes.
